This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.
ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
Please add hardware into tables.

WORKS FOR SOME/GIVES SYSTEM CRASHES
IDE/PATA works
Set HDD-controllers 'ich9/jmicron' to AHCI mode, powerstate=S3
Processor: Enable apic2.0, disable speedstep, disable c1e, enable VT and XT
4gb ram working < dependent on BIOS settings, read the forum if you have kernel panic!!!
Install method easy:
Kalyway 10.5.1 Install DVD 'select right patches, try MBR if GUID fails'
Updated to 10.5.2 using Kalyway ComboUpdate and kernel update.
Updated to 10.5.4 using software update (vanilla 9.4 kernel works great, sleep works, everything works :D)
Another Install Method (that I used after the easy method failed for me):
Kalyway 10.5.1 Install DVD 'deselect everything except vanilla kernel, and MBR'
Immediately update to 10.5.3 using Kalyway ComboUpdate, following its instructions closely (meaning apply kernel update before rebooting)
Immediately update to 10.5.4 using software update (vanilla 9.4 kernel)
Then install drivers like NVInstaller v.52 (if you have an nvidia video card) or audio drivers, etc.
Install method advanced:
Retail-Leopard-DVD, GUID, pc-efi8, with retail kexts 'remove appleintelcpupowermanagment.kext, add dsmos.kext', only AUDIO/LAN/VIDEO.kexts needs to be added after that, also may add applesmbios.kext for showing right info in system profiler.
Retail-Leopard 10.5.2 + graphics update also work. see netkas.org for howto

SATA & IDE: Installed OS onto IDE drive without problems. Also have two SATA drives in Striped RAID configured through MediaShield ROM, but the RAID showed up as two individual drives in Mac's Disk Utility during installation. Cannot access RAID even after installation.
Optical Drive: BenQ DW1625. During the 15 odd times I booted from the DVD to install, after the first 6 or 7 times, the installer started saying that it could not read from the disc. This was happening when it normally would check the media for errors. So, I re-burned a new disc using the same drive of the same ISO(which I had initially created from the original (now problematic) disk). The new disc worked. Maybe, just a very fragile disc. But, weird.
Shutdown and reboot works. Sleep gives a blank (black), unresponsive screen. Have to hard reset.
Had to run the installation, with the same options, multiple times for it to get it right. After a few installs, I was getting the gray screen asking me to restart the computer. I really don't know how I got around that problem. I just installed again without changing any options. Finally, when it worked, I had my ethernet cable unplugged. In the Customize list, I had chosen the nforce chipset 2/3/4/5 kext, AC '97, forcedeth, nvidia geforce 10.5.2 and nvinject 128 MB for my 6600GT graphics card. Name of volume: Leopard. I chose the EFI v8 plus MBR bootloader to make the "Leopard" volume bootable. I'm using grub to choose between my various OSes. SSE3 9.2.0 TOH Kernel chosen from the Customize list.
Can only install from same IDE cable (CD and HDD)
EFI: Since I installed using Zephyroth's 10.5.2, I'm assuming it installs EFI by default?

Install Method: Kalyway 10.5.2 with "sleep" kernel
BIOS: Unknown (will update later) but I did not have to mess around with any settings to make it work.
Audio: Realtek ALC655, only works on left channel out of the box. Use kext file from [10] and everything works great!

LAN: VIA VT6103L, does not work out of box. Attempted to install VIA Rhine driver, and adapter was recognized....but always got a kernel panic immediately after I tried to setup the adapter! Using a Realtek PCI network adapter instead, works great. I'm just a bit lazy, I am sure there's a way to get the integrated network to work if you really want to.
SATA & IDE: Both work excellent out of the box!

Via P4M800PRO, Via 8237R Plus
Install Method: Use Kalyway 10.5.1 Intel Amd DVD. Use 10.5.6 combo update with netkas method. Netkas method works but you MUST enable root user in directory utility and type "sudo su" in terminal first before running the netkas script. Make sure you have voodoo kernel 9.5 installed BEFORE YOU REBOOT. If you have an nvidia card remove all ati*, appleintelgma* video kexts before reboot. IDeneb 10.5.5 also works but do not install any video drivers.
BIOS: 5/25/2007
Audio: AC97 stereo fully working with patch, otherwise mono OOB.
Graphics: Onboard video unknown. Used Geforce 6200 128mb AGP and 7600gs 512 AGP. QE CI supported with NVinject.
LAN: Works with viarhine.kext, but has dropouts and you have to restart. Use wireless USB adapter.
Even Fully supported PCI LAN cards Tends to drop out just like the on board, many people are having this problem just with this particular chipset no just the motherboard. Tried many things to get this to work but have not had success, some bios tweaks make it last longer but it still dies from heavy usage.
SATA & IDE: IDE works, SATA works. USB Works. Time Machine works with toh ionetworkingfamily.kext.
Vanilla kernels do not work because of via chipset. Installed using MBR. GUID works too on my IDE drive. Dual boots with XP.
You might have to slightly increase voltage on your memory with this board. I could not install Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD at first and got an error "Could not validate Base Install". After upping my memory voltage by .20 it worked fine. Depends on memory probably.

Note from someone else: I found this entry to be misleading about the audio chipset. Use the next one. You only need the two kexts from Taruga: HDAEnabler.kext, and ALC888 Address 2 AppleHDA.kext. You don't have to deal with any Linux dump. Putting the kexts in the EFI partition did not work since they had dependencies in the original kexts.

Before reboot remove/backup all patched kext files, run "kextcache -a i386 -m /Extra/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions/". Now you can safely reboot..

Install Method: KALYWAY and IATKOS 10.5.2 works perfectly (need to set to AHCI in BIOS and install in first partition of drive). RECOMMENDED METHOD: Also works perfectly with RETAIL DVD or existing Leopard volume using Chameleon install method combined with LS8 patch pack (see links below).
Audio: Works perfectly with linux audio codec dump (see linked file) and Taruga's 3 files HDApatcher, HDAEnabler.kext, and ALC888 Address 2 AppleHDA.kext (to have full bass use AppleHDA.kext that is modded using limini's method)
All 6 SATA AND 2 IDE Ports work perfectly OOB, including both kinds of SATA/IDE hard drives and optical drives. Need to set ACHI setting in BIOS before install. USB2 Ports work perfectly.
Core 2 Duo 3Ghz E8400 processor working perfectly, add-on Bytecc Firewire card working OOB. Palit NVidia 8600 card working perfectly. Running Leopard 10.5.5
Great overclocking board. Overclocked at 3.6Ghz with stock Intel cooler. Overclocked at 3.87Ghz with add-on Scythe Shuriken CPU cooler. XBench score of 216. 1720 Mhz Front-Side Bus. 30% faster than the iMac 3.06Ghz Extreme, even for the graphics surprisingly! The overclocked front-side bus elimanates most of the system bottlenecks.
30 successful installations reported for this new Gigabyte motherboard.
Comment by one user (most don't have this problem): I had to perform entire installation process with only 1 piece of RAM. I wasted several hours dealing with incredible slowness before I figured this out.

YES: ChameleonEFI or KalywayEFI, + Vanilla kernel
No. Need to install Audio patch. Very easy to do. Use also LS8v12 kext patch installer for this board for optimal performance. If installing 10.5.5 Leopard update, you must install 10.5.4 first along with LS8 patch pack before the 10.5.5 update. Avoid NVinject kext since it may not be compatible with all NVidia graphic boards (NVinject may cause bootup crash), use the proven LS8 pack instead.

BIOS Version: v1.3; Revision: Unknown
Audio: On-board Creative X-Fi xtreme audio DOES NOT WORK WHAT-SO-EVER. USB Audio, like a headset, will work though.
LAN: On-board LAN, works with driver "forcedeth". Has some issues when dual-booting with Windows Vista.
SATA & IDE: Everything works perfectly. Just make sure if you dual/triple-boot to shutdown your other OS's completely or OSX cannot read. I use Ext2FS for my Linux partition and NTFS-3g for my Vista partition. All work fine.
Optical Drive: SONY DVD-RW DRU-540A. Works fine.
Do shutdown, reboot and sleep work? Yes, have not tested sleep.
Sleep, Speedstep, nForce, and Modbin kernels all work. Vanilla and kabyl kernels do not work.
PC-EFI works. Vanilla Kernel does not.
No patching required.

BIOS Version: v2.2; Revision: 06/18/2007
Audio: On-board nForce Audio ALC888 Codec works like a charm OTB
LAN: On-board LAN cannot receive data, not working. Tried with up-to-date "forcedeth".
SATA & IDE: Everything works perfectly. Installed to IDE just to make sure. Couldn't install from SATA DVD drive but maybe that was because I used a DVD+RW
Optical Drive: SATA works fine
External Firewire drives work fine.
Low-speed USB mice and wacom tablets work fine.
High-speed USB devices (ex: external drives) need patch (see notes)
Do shutdown, reboot and sleep work? Yes, have not tested sleep. Update: sleep doesn't work.
I use the nforce kernel, haven't tried the others.
PC-EFI works. Vanilla Kernel does not.
Make sure the vanilla kernel option is UNchecked during the install.
No patching required. You _have_to use BIOS version 2.2 though. 2.1 will force you to use cpus=1, 2.5 (the latest) would hang the kernel at the memory prompt.
For those who want to update to 10.5.3, the "JaS 10.5.3 combo update" worked like a charm, the "kalyway 10.5.3 comboupdate" crashed and messed-up the OS.

Do not forget to repair permissions after install, then run marvins if u got amd
software updates cause firewire to stop working along with ps/2 port! clear cmos jumper fixed this, unsure of cause

Install Instructions:
Formatted HFS+ and then partitioned 300GB into Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) and 200GB into FAT (for Windows later)
Installed using Vanilla Kernel, and using both Natit and NVInject kexts...display works fine in 1440x900 and other resolutions
Complete Install and Reboot
Once you reboot, go into Bios and disable second CPU core (or it will be unstable and freeze under heavy loads)
If you are having root device not found issues or install can't find the HD to install on (SATA), make sure your eSATA is turned on for device 0. Interesting tip, don't plug the SATA plug into the 4 plugs by the graphics card, it has to be in the top plug on the 2 SATA plugs facing verticle out the front of the machine (if that makes any sense)
Use -v on first boot if you want, but it was not necessary for me.
Get kexthelperB7 to install kexts from here if you want to try and get the Lan working or fix the 1 channel audio. This was just an impatient test to see if it would work. I have a Asus P5B coming in that will hopefully work OOB with minor difficulties.
Yes
Audio needs patching if you want more than 1 channel, LAN needs patching

First install Realtek Drivers from [34] (USB RT2870) Restart with -f and -v look for a ralink driver being loaded. Then go to Network in System Preferences, hopefully it will appear. Start USBWirelessUtility and check for the device status. If it doesn't work, check that the RT73USBWireless.kext is really loaded. In terminal kextstat, and look for com.Ralink.driver.RT73 (1.1.7). If it isn't there try sudo kextload RT73USBWireless.kext in terminal. You might also have to add your ip settings manually in Network Preferences by clicking the plus sign above the lock and adding an ethernet device.

USB Gamers headset with microphone. Works fine with 10.4.8, 10.4.11 and 10.5.2. When using with Leopard, the device needs to be plugged in during boot or you have to manually change the sound output to the device in the sound configuration utility. Sound is great, has a volume control on the cord that works correctly including the Apple sound graphic on the screen. CPU is not under load while playing sound and the microphone works great.
